Retroscreen Attending Forthcoming 7th International Respiratory Syncytial Virus Symposium and World Influenza Congress Europe During December 2010
Retroscreen Virology Limited, a global leader in anti-viral research, clinical trials and experimental challenge studies, is pleased to announce that the company will be represented at 2 key conferences during December. The first is the 7th International Respiratory Syncytial Virus Symposium at the conference centre of the Hotel Blijdorp, Rotterdam between 2-5 December. RSV is a major cause of sever lower respiratory tract disease in infants, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly, and is a virus that Retroscreen is increasingly working with in the human challenge model. During the conference, Professor John Oxford, Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder of the company, will participate in a special event organised by Professor Albert Osterhaus.

The second conference is the World Influenza Congress Europe which will be held at the Okura Hotel, Amsterdam between 7-9 December. This conference is an annual event which focuses specifically on vaccine development. Influenza is the fastest growing segment in the adult vaccine market and is a key research area for Retroscreen, with Professor Oxford being a recognised expert in the field. During the conference, Professor Oxford will give 2 separate presentations: the first entitled “Are we prepared for the next pandemic threat”, and the second entitled “The use of human quarantine to speed vaccine development”.
