Clinical Services

Retroscreen has developed a model with two principal business units; the first is a Clinical Services business built around human challenge studies and the second is an Analytical Services (pre-clinical) business unit, built around in-house expertise on testing anti-virals and virucidals in vitro.

Service offering
Retroscreen offers a comprehensive clinical trial service from protocol design and ethics committee application, through to effecting and co-coordinating studies and eventual data-lock. With over 12 years experience of clinical trials, Retroscreen has extensive knowledge encompassing Phase 1a, 1b and 2a studies conducted to international standards.

Retroscreen has conducted studies into human influenza, RSV, prophylactic and therapeutic trials with influenza neuraminidase inhibitors, intranasal/intramuscular influenza vaccine trials and common cold studies. Retroscreen is the leader in conducting respiratory challenge studies on volunteers in quarantine facilities, with capacity to infect up to 100 volunteers, using a database of over 3,000 volunteers to allow clients to rapidly and cost-effectively execute trials.

Retroscreen also has the capability to conduct studies into enteric viruses such as norovirus.

Approach

In recent years the Company has experienced significant growth in the demand for the challenge study services that it provides. Retroscreen has a flexible approach to study conduct, preferring to conduct the quarantine aspect of studies at both non-Phase 1 sites and accredited Phase 1 units. Retroscreen has formed collaborations with accredited Phase 1 units for the conduct of the quarantine aspect of studies.

All trials are subject to independent assessment and approval by an independent ethics committee.
